The culmination of about 2 weeks worth of work. For the longest time, I wanted to re-create one of my older posts with my current artistic skill. Here is the result.
I must say, I am very pleased with the outcome. The first iteration was, for me, the most impressive one- however it also turned out to be too much for one character. It was too distracting. I tried to correct this by re-designing the flow lines for Xeyphos' blood, and focus them more in his shoulder and chest area, while also trying to use these lines to simulate muscle lines. I then proceeded to decrease the brightness so that the eyes of the viewer could rest a bit and also to be able to focus on other parts of the character. Adding a tunic also helped achieve this, though I am still unsure about the white colour...
Argo was a challenge as well. Initially, he was taller than Xeyphos, even though Argo is supposed to protrude from his twin's back. I corrected this by simply moving his entire layer down until their heads were more or less on the same line. This caused the arms on the right to be too close together, so I decided to move Argo's arm up, thus changing the pose to a more on-guard stance. Overall I ended up learning a lot from this project, and even relearned how to make shadows on flat surfaces.
Here is my first version of the twins + lore:
